Trying to Figure Out Free Social Search?

If you or your company struggle to figure out free social search, then listen up

More tools exist for free social search meets the eye. The obvious ones?social-media

Twitter

LinkedIn.com

Facebook

Google +

YouTube

All five of these services offer their own version of search. This is socially affected. Yes you can build as many backlinks as you possibly can afford, however, that will only get you so far in social search.

People searching on these networks often reach content that their personal networks referred them to. It wasn’t about having a PR9 backlink for your keyword. Yes keywords were included in the content, but this content was originally created for the human in mind. It wasn’t about the almighty “backlink.” (Think Google Panda anyone?)

So hat does this teach us? People, on order to save time, save themselves time and frustration. They are letting their friends and family recommend content for them. Look at StumbleUpon. You literally would never have to leave the ‘web’ and just find high quality content you needed within that network.

So what do you do in order to influence free social search? Do you put out quality content of use? That’s why people come to the internet. That’s why people use free social search to begin with. It isn’t to find a business or a product. It’s to find a solution to their problem. If your business happens to solve that, then you’re rewarded on the other end.

Now the other thing to note is this: social buzzes influence organic search result rankings. Don’t think they do? Then why would Google do the Panda dance twist-and-shout style, get rid of a ton of poor websites, and then roll out a new service where you can let your friends rank content for you. Only stuff that’s recommended shows up in your rankings if you’re signed into Google. Something to think about. More important is the reasoning beyond it. What was their Big “WHY?”

Again – Google’s mission is to end search. And what a better way than if real people can basically vote and say if this content is good or not. Talk about crowdsourcing at it’s finest – and they don’t have to pay anyone.

I scoured the Internet. I found several good resources to share with you. They cover indepth about free social search and how it affects the state of the web.
